Life is good. Busy, but good. Overall I'm content, happy, relaxed! Things have gotten a little crazy lately, but I'm dealing with it all, as usual. I handle stress pretty well and lately I've had more than my share! But we're still here and still dyeing, skeining and shipping excellent quality yarn, which makes me VERY happy!
Have you ever thought very much about swatching? Yes, yes! It's tedious, mundane. You HAVE to do it unless of course you don't care about what you're knitting at all and don't want the finished item to fit! But other than that, we all MUST, MUST, MUST swatch!
Most of the time I design something and fill everything else in from there. So, I (poorly) sketch the idea first and then choose the yarn, colorway, pattern, usually in that order. But lately I've been swatching first and then letting the little tedious square "speak" to me. Ok, that's really corny I know, but it's been speaking LOUDLY, even without little yarn mouth, teeth and tongue :-).
Take for example my most recent little square:
Oh how I love this little square!! The colorway is Honolulu (new Fall 2008) and the yarn is Simply Luxurious (also new Fall 2008). As soon as I saw it I knew it was a keeper. It's amazing how different variegated yarns can look from the skein to the swatch. I just love how the colors blend and roam around this piece. Nice!
What I'm making with it is still a secret but there's a lot still in store for it. I'll keep you posted.
I hope you all are happy & healthy! KEEP SWATCHING!
Have Fun & Knit Safely!

oh man, that is gorgeous. Love the pattern too. so is this yarn a little heavier than fingering? Sounds like from the content it would make good, durable socks. Always looking for the perfect man sock for evil Freaky Consort who skates around in his socks!! grrrr
